Just some personal story...

Welcome to the Nothing Special Art Gallery, just another way of sharing my life's journey though art. My journey has been an exploration of diverse perspectives in painting, from ancient Egyptian reproductions, to modern conceptual art, and finally to the place I've landed a few years ago - watercolors, where I'm am fully in beginner's mind.

Below are some examples from my art portfolio. Although I've worked on canvas and large wall murals in oil and acrylic, my recent work is on paper in watercolor. You can order prints here. Use 15% Discount code: TCPTXY

Watercolors

"Delusion finds peace in art...though with no finality. There are resting ponts in the world's motion... In the controversy of life, art provides rest, recuperation, but not permanent release. The fire at the foot of a mountain blazes and the whole mountain is beautiful." -  Richard Wilhelm The Spirit of Art According to the Book of Changes

Pieces of Art

"The meaning here is that accessories, outer appearnce, ornament, embellishment and so on are neither good nor bad. They are rather pretty, but they and the drive to be playful, have prerogatives only in this relationship of dependence. The playful drive must not indpendently stray into boundlessness, but, subordinate into meaningfulness, must be governed by meaning." -  Richard Wilhelm The Spirit of Art According to the Book of Changes

Egyptian Art Reproductions

Mr. Shaw’s reproductions of ancient Egyptian Art have been sold in the gift shops at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and at The Field Museum in Chicago. His life-size reproduction of the north wall of King Tutankhamen’s tomb was purchased by the Philadelphia Museum at the University of Pennsylvania for permanent display. His Egyptian themed designer stationary and framed art collections have sold in department stores nationwide.

Early Work in Oil, Acrylic & Mixed Media

My early days in art were about painting using various media while exploring the themes current in my personal life at the time. Zen, nature, and my experiences in Africa and the American Southwest dominated my artistic inspiration.

The Search for Meaning...

Questioner: I am a painter and I earn by painting pictures. Does this have any value from the spiritual point of view?

Maharaj: When you paint, what do you think about?

Questioner: When I paint, there is only the painting and myself.

Maharaj: What are you doing there?

Questioner: I paint.

Maharaj: No, you don't. You see the painting going on. You are watching only; all else happens.
