My influences in Black & White photography are the early pioneers in the art:  Ansel Adams, Edward Steichen, Alfred Steiglitz, Margaret Bourke-White, Henri Cartier-Bresson, and others of this tradition where the photo tells a story, captures a moment, shows us something or some place that is unique, usually in an image with many shades of gray as well as having a pure white and a pure black.

I shot a roll with my old film camera to compare with my digital camera. Here are the side by side comparisons. Photos on left in each pair is digital. Photo on right in pair is film. Exposures were the same in each camera. I found that the film was higher in contrast, brights were washed out, and there was far less range for editing in all respects. Definitely a difference in sharpness between the 55mm on my old Petri FT film camera (less sharp) and my Nikon 24-70mm when set at 55mm (though not noticable in these online images).

For a little more than a year, I wrote articles for Classic Land Rover Magazine, a monthly UK publication for owners of this iconic vehicle.
