Origin story

The story behind Nothing Special began when, as a teen, I found a small photo album my dad had created consisting of photographs taken one snowy winter in New York City. I asked I could have a camera and he gave me his old 35mm Argus camera, the one he'd used for those pictures. A year later my parents bought me a good quality 35mm Single Lens Reflex and that began a lifetime of photography for me. I took that camera with me wherever I went, and ultimately other digital cameras over 5 continents.

My dad's photography

I've settled in Virginia which is a great place to be when it comes to photography. The weather is great year round.  To the west are mountains with wildlife and color, central is the James River surrounded by picturesque towns and their local events, and to the east the bay and ocean with birds, boats, and beachlife.

The city of Richmond is urban, but not too urban, and major airports are within a reasonable distance. As a website called Nothing Special, I'd like people to browse and feel creatively inspired. On the surface is the ordinary, and my hope is that for some, upon deeper reflection, a feeling of connection might emerge.
