Origin story

The story behind Nothing Special began when, as a teen, I found a small photo album my dad had created consisting of photographs taken one snowy winter in New York City. I asked if I could have a camera and he gave me his old 35mm Argus camera, the one he'd used for those pictures. A year later my parents bought me a good quality 35mm Single Lens Reflex and that began a lifetime of photography for me. I took that camera with me wherever I went, and ultimately other cameras over 5 continents.

My dad's photography

I've recently settled in West Virginia which is a great place to be when it comes to photography. The mountains, weather, people and wildlife offer new photo opportunites for me. The river, parks, and towns with their local events will be an exciting challenge.

As for this website called Nothing Special, I'd like people to browse and feel creatively inspired. On the surface is the ordinary, and my hope is that for some, upon deeper reflection, a feeling of connection might emerge.
